Like a quiet forest just before a wildfire, we sit, awaiting the forthcoming damage.
Like fools, we smell the burning land and choose to neglect.
Like a deer that snaps its neck at the sound of a snapping branch – we follow suit, alert, and at attention.
Decorating the newborn trend with our gaze, adorning our lives with the suggestions of others. Like a child, we wander without direction. Dead in our own bodies, we follow the crowd.
A dark cloud forms overhead.
When will we divert?
Look to the sky! Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and let the light shine on you! Stand at attention.
We redirect our gaze. One thing provides.
Though the snapping branches that once distracted us have now become thunderous booms from towering trees plummeting toward the earth, we remain in the light. We stand tall. Unshaken, we provide shelter for those blindsided and struck by chaos.
Clouds and darkness surround the throne.
Our well runs dry, what was once full is now barren. The greatest sleight of hand ever performed – our attention for a fleeting moment. Our gaze has been prostituted for a counterfeit version of fulfillment.
Look to the sky! Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and let the light shine on you!
Look to the sky! Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and let the light shine on you!
Look to the sky! Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and let the light shine on you!
Stand at attention.
End.

53 – The Human Way
Very philosophical!
5 Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.
